True Patriot Redux

In March I released a new pattern called True Patriot for the Timeless Treasures Tonga Patriot batik collection.

At the time I mentioned how I thought it would make a great Quilt of Valor. One of my followers (Cindy Ganschow) took up the challenge and made True Patriot for a special display of QOV quilts at her local county fair.

Her version of True Patriot has two additional borders to make it fit the size requirements. The quilt hung at the fair along side 11 other Quilt of Valor quilts.

AT the end of the fair, most of the quilts were given to veterans in an emotional ceremony. Some will be presented to veterans later.

What a wonderful display of patriotism! Can you imagine if every county fair did this?

Thanks Cindy for sharing your photos with us!

If you’d like to make True Patriot, you’ll find the free downloadable pattern here, on my free downloadable quilt patterns page.

If you make True Patriot or any other quilt pattern of mine, I'd love to see it!

My Latest Pattern for Timeless Treasures!

I often design quilt patterns for upcoming fabric collections, and recently I created this cute panel quilt for the Can’t Buy Happiness collection by Timeless Treasures, which is in stores now.

Hancock’s of Paducah is offering a kit for this quilt if you’d like to make one exactly like the one shown.

Hancock’s also offers just the panel if you want to make the quilt using your own fabrics.

You can purchase the pattern in my shop. By the way, the pattern works with any standard 24” panel, so feel free to use one in your stash. This week only, I’m taking 20% off Panel Play Spools!

My Latest Pattern for Timeless Treasures!

As you know, I often design quilt patterns for upcoming fabric collections such as the new Tonga Batiks Passport collection by Timeless Treasures. Right before Quilt Market, my Facets quilt pattern was selected for display in the Market booth.

Here it is, in the garden of the home I stayed in while at Market.

I had to rush to design the pattern and to make the sample, but it was fun. I really love, love the colors in patterns in this collection!

Before I delivered the sample to Market, I took lots of photos. My husband enjoyed being the photographer.

Here is Facets in the Timeless Treasures booth at the Spring 2019 Quilt Market.

The design is simple yet striking in the colors of the Passport collection. I really love how the hot colors flow towards cool colors from upper left to lower right. I think this pattern would look awesome even in a different fabric coloration, and better yet it’s simple and fast to do!

For quilting, I chose simple straight lines because I didn’t want to lose the pattern with a fancy quilting design. To add some interest, I quilted using Aurifil #1104 (Neon Orange) in one direction, and #2535 (Magenta) in the other.

I used a wool batting I had on hand (Quilters Dream Wool) because I wanted a soft but warm quilt. Can’t say I’m as happy with this wool batt as I am with Hobbs Wool and I don’t think I’ll use it again. It’s a bit too puffy for me but it drapes well and is soft so it’s got that going for it.

For the backing, Timeless sent one of their basics—a wideback called Tonga-B2336 Sunset. I think it goes perfectly with the colors in the front.

Here are the quilt details.

My Latest Pattern for Island Batik!

As you know, I’m an Island Batik Ambassador and as such I often create patterns for the Island Batik fabric collections. This month, the Ambassadors are celebrating the Spring 2019 batik collections with a fun filled blog hop. There are tons of giveaways and beautiful batiks on display during this hop! Click here to see the hop schedule and to enter the giveaways.

Today on the hop, we are showcasing the Clockworks collection.

Here is my pattern for that collection. I call it Like Clockwork.

You can view Like Clockwork and (two other quilt patterns I designed for the Spring/Summer 2019 collection) in the online Island Batik Spring/Summer catalog.

You will find the Clockworks fabric collection in your local quilt shop now.

Like Clockwork finishes at 64" x 80". I simply love the deep browns and teals in this collection. So warm and perfect for fall!

I had Like Clockwork quilted with an all over pattern of interlocking gears. Simply perfect for this!

For the backing,Island Batik sent #121810585 from the Oh Deer Winter 2018 collection. I really love this rich dark navy with orangy-gold snowmen and I think it really compliments the front of the quilt.

As you know, I went to Spring Market where I took photos of my three quilts displayed in the Island Batik booth. Here I am with Like Clockwork.

Here are the quilt details.
