Celebrating National Quilting Day with a New Pattern for Timeless Treasures!

Happy National Quilting Day and Worldwide Quilting Day! I hope you’re in your sewing room, quilting up a storm! If you don’t have anything to make, I offer this easy pattern.

I designed my latest pattern for Timeless Treasures and it’s called “True Patriot.” True Patriot is designed to use the fabrics from the Tonga Patriot batik collection, which is in stores now.

True Patriot finishes at 52-1/2" x 68-1/2" and would make a great Quilt of Valor. It would also be an awesome quilt for your own American hero, or as a welcome banner to your home.

The pattern is a free download that you'll find here, on my free downloadable quilt patterns page.

If you make True Patriot or any other quilt pattern of mine, I'd love to see it!

I have a weekly linkup that's just perfect for sharing your works in progress and quilt finishes. Drop by any Wednesday to share what you're working on in my Wednesday Wait Loss.

Happy National Quilting Day and Worldwide Quilting Day!

Furry Fridays Week 7

Hi and welcome to the last edition of Furry Friday. This final edition is brought to you by the Petfinder Foundation, a non-profit organization that support animal shelters/rescue groups. The Petfinder Foundation is a big supporter of the Small Kennel Quilt Team which coordinates the making of kennel quilts for rescue animals. Click here to learn how you can make kennel quilts too!

Every Friday for the last few weeks, I’ve introduced you to a pair of cutie pies just looking for a forever home. Although this week is the last Furry Friday, it’s my hope that you’ll help rescue animals everywhere by making kennel quilts and adopting a pet when you can.

I’ve had lots of adopted pets, and each one was special. You can read about my pets here.

But enough about me! Time to show you our two rescues for this week. First up is Lola, a shepherd mix—a wonderful companionable breed. Still a bit of a puppy, Lola will need help completing her leash and obedience training. Lola is a bit shy but once she warms to you, she’s sweet and affectionate. Can you give her the loving home she longs for?

Next up is Surf. Isn’t that a terrific name? Makes me think of a beach boy. Surf is an older tuxedo (black and white) DSH. Although surfing is not his thing, Surf does enjoy cuddling, basking in the sun, and purring. Surf’s up for adoption! Can you give him a forever home?

If you can’t adopt one of these rescues, help me spread the word about them! You’ll find a Share button under the Comment Kitty at the bottom of this post you can use to share this post through social media.

Here are the other Island Ambassadors who are hosting Furry Friday this week.

Don’t forget to check out my Wednesday Wait Loss group before you leave. Link up your WIPs and you might win three fat quarters!

Furry Friday Week 6

Hi and welcome to Furry Friday. This week’s edition is brought to you by Benartex. Benartex supports the Petfinder Foundation and the Small Kennel Quilt Team through the sale of Joey the Shop Dog fabrics. Every time you buy some of this fabric, 10% goes to help rescue animals.

Each week for Furry Friday I present a couple of rescues just waiting for their fur-ever home.

Before I do that, I want to show you my sister’s awesome black lab, Zoey. Zoey was in rough shape when Pat adopted her. She was horribly overweight, had been caged daily for too many hours, and had health issues. With care and loving attention, Zoey changed into an active, sweet super dog!

Zoey lived a good long rest of her life with Pat. Sadly, she passed a few weeks ago leaving Pat heartbroken. Perhaps in time Pat will adopt another dog, but she’s not there yet. All I know is that any dog would be a lucky dog indeed to be adopted by my sister Pat! She is literally the world's best pet owner and I'm working on my dog costume as we speak. <grin>

Now let me introduce our two rescues for this week. First up is Chester, a 9 year-old tuxedo-colored DSH cat with "Peacekeeper" tattooed on his chest. <grin> Through his leadership skills, Chester ensures a trouble-free get-along-no-matter-what home, even if you're mixing cats and dogs. Awesomely affectionate, Chester likes indoor-outdoor living, laying on your lap, and doing the laundry! <no kidding> Chester is full of personality and lots of love to give to anyone who's willing to provide him a furever home. Will that be you?

Next up is Caesar. Caesar is a 1- year-old Boxer mix with a lot of love to give. He's well trained and easy going, getting along with most dogs. Despite his age he has a lot of pep left in his step so he'll enjoy both playtime and snuggle time. Can you give Caesar the furever home he's dreaming of?

If you can’t adopt one of these rescues, help me spread the word about them! You’ll find a Share button under the Comment Kitty at the bottom of this post. Also, please consider helping the TQPM Small Kennel Quilt team to provide comfort to rescue cats and dogs by making kennel quilts like these, which I made using Island Batiks.

Be sure to come back next Friday for the final version of Furry Friday. Here are the other Island Ambassadors who are hosting Furry Friday this week.

Furry Fridays Week 5

It’s Furry Friday! This week’s edition is courtesy of Hancock’s of Paducah. As you know, each week for Furry Friday I present a couple of fur babies waiting for their fur-ever home.

My rescue Zora is fitting in nicely. Here she is, claiming one of my quilts.

Now that you've had the latest update on Zora, let me introduce our two rescues for this week. First up is Carlee. What a contemplative cat! Carlee is sweet and a bit shy, but once she gets to know you, she’ll be the best companion. She’s young (three years old) and all she wants is a warm lap and a nice home to sleep in. Please consider giving Carlee a place in your home!

Next up is Bristol. Bristol is a female Shepherd mix puppy who is 13 weeks old. We had a Shepherd mix when I was little and I can tell you they make the best companions! Sweet, loving, good natured and kind, they mix well with other dogs. Bristol has not yet graduated from puppy training, but she is well on her way! Can you give her the home she deserves?

If you can’t adopt one of these rescues, help spread the word. Also, please consider helping the TQPM Small Kennel Quilt team to provide comfort to rescue cats and dogs by making kennel quilts like these, which I made with Island Batiks.

Come back next Friday for more Furry Friday rescues. Here are the other Island Ambassadors who are hosting Furry Friday this week.
