Wednesday Wait Loss 123

Welcome to Wednesday Wait Loss. Please share what you’ve been working on!

First let me tell you what I've been up to

On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, I attended our special Handi Quilter truck event. You see, the quilt store where I work is one of seven premier Handi Quilter stores, so we get a special event every quarter. This quarter’s event was the truck event.

Handi Quilter sent two trainers and a truck full of long arms to our store, and we set them up in a special section of the building where we are located. Then from Thursday to Saturday, the two trainers presented a series of classes. I took as many as I could, including Longarm Basics, Fabulous Free Motion Quilting, and Fun Fillers.

I had tons of fun working on improving my longarm quilting knowledge and skills.

I put those skills to good use on Monday by longarming a quilt for Island Batik’s Fall/Winter catalog and Fall Quilt Market. Just in time, since the quilt is due in California on Friday! I mailed it off yesterday so it’ll arrive on Thursday. Woot!

Unfortunately, I can’t show you the quilt since the fabrics have not been released to the market yet. So I’ve blurred the image below. It’s a collection of lovely purples and blues which is why I was drawn to it. The quilting motif I chose has little shamrocks in it and I love it because I’m Irish.

On Saturday I presented the third installment of my Spring Quilt Market report. I saw so many cool fabrics, tools, and patterns! If you missed the report, click here.

Well that was my week!

Now let's see who made this week's feature

First up is Denise @ For the Love of Geese who shared some ideas for organizing your sewing room. Visit her blog for more tips and lots of photos!

Next is Melva @ Melva Loves Scraps who lovingly restored an old Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt.

Next is Turid @ Den Syende Himmel, who shared these adorable micro mini quilts that are only four inches square! Aren’t they amazing?

Finally,I’d like to welcome Kathy @ Kathy’s Quilting Blog who is new to Wednesday Wait Loss. Let’s all give her a warm welcome!

Kathy shared a customer quilt and five H2H charity quilts plus several other projects. Drop by her blog to cheer her on!

Welcome to Wednesday Wait Loss. Please share what you’ve been working on!

First let me tell you what I've been up to

As you know, I went to Quilt Market last week and I shared my journey to Kansas City with you last Wednesday. On Saturday I shared what I did my first day at Market—the Schoolhouse sessions and Sample Spree.

If you missed any of the quilt candy from my Day One post, click here.

I’ve got more to share with you about Market, so stay tuned!

I also finished my May island Batik challenge quilt and took photos of it yesterday. I’ll be sharing the quilt with you tomorrow so be sure to come back for that. Meanwhile, here’s a little sneak.

Well, that was my week!

Now let's see who made this week's feature

We had two new quilters join us last week, and I’d like to feature them.

First up is Denise @ For the Love of Geese, who shared her two “new to her” sewing machines. One of them is the same model as my beloved Bernina! Denise, you’re going to love that machine. Although I’ve replaced mine with a new Janome, I still have fond memories of my Bernina QE 150.

Denise also shared the table she uses for sewing. It’s a treadle machine!

Denise also shared the blocks she’s making for the Seashore Splendor QAL and a QOV she’s making using Island Batiks. It’s a great post with even more photos so go check it out!

Next, Allison @ New Every Morning Patchwork & Quilting shared a lovely quilt top that’s her own design! Allison will be making the quilt again only larger, and she shared the fabrics she’ll be using for that. Go check it out!

Finally, Karrin shared her Flourishes BOM quilt top. This quilt top took a long time for her to finish because it’s hand applique but now it’s done! Congratulations Karrin!

I recognize this quilt pattern because I love the designers—Piece O Cake Designs. Isn’t it lovely?

Go pay her a visit and encourage Karrin to finish her quilt soon.

Welcome to Wednesday Wait Loss. Please share what you’ve been working on!

First let me tell you what I've been up to

Last week I went to Spring Quilt Market in Kansas City, returning home on Sunday.

My husband came with me and we had a lovely time driving down, stopping at one of our favorite restaurants in Illinois for lunch. We split a large steak and cheese sandwich and had a large cup of seafood chowder each. Yum! The Firefly Grill has a beautiful garden out front and a gorgeous pond out back. Sitting on their glassed-in porch was relaxing and fun, and the perfect set up for a week at Market!

I love finding oddities when I’m on a trip. These kooky garden animals caught my eye at a stop, as did this miniature arch that was outside a motel near the on-ramp. Kind of a fooler, isn’t it? <grin>

We arrived around dinnertime to a beautiful historic house in downtown Kansas City. I stayed there with my friends in the Quilting Collective.

Since the light was fading, we hurried to take photos of Facets, a quilt I finished on the way down. Later I’ll show you the quilt hanging in the Timeless Treasures booth. A pattern for Facets will soon be released with the Tonga Batiks Passport fabric collection for free download.

After driving all day and taking photos of my quilt, it was awesome to sit down immediately to a dinner we’d brought with us. Nothing could be simpler or more welcoming than eating in your own kitchen (even if it’s only on loan <grin>).

This is only a part of the fabulous space Scott and I shared during our visit. I’ll show you more in another installment of my Quilt Market report. I love the mix of modern and vintage! So cute and so inspiring with the mix of textures and colors.

I can’t wait to show you what I discovered at Market! I’ll start a series of posts later this week. Be sure to follow me if you’re interested in the latest trends and a birds-eye view of what it’s like to visit Quilt Market.

Well, that was my week!

Now let's see who made this week's feature

We had two new quilters join us last week, and I’d like to feature them.

First up is Kathleen @ Rose Prairie Quilts and Farm. Kathleen shared her version of Block 1 in The Garden Party. Isn’t it wonderful?

I really appreciate hand-stitching although I don’t do much of it anymore because I never have time and I’m not very good at it.

Kathleen is also participating in a “stitch what you see” challenge which is really intriguing to me. Drop by her blog to learn more.

Next up is Carol @ Quilt Schmilt, who shared the first of three quilts she’s making for a golf course fundraiser. Love this cute fabric, and that view! Awesome.

Congratulations ladies! Here's an I Was Featured badge for your blogs or to simply print out and wear with pride! Thank you for supporting my blog!
