My New Pattern Peppermint Twist!

On Monday, I released a new pattern, Berry Cross. Today I’m happy to announce the release of another pattern, Peppermint Twist! Both patterns are included in my trunk show at Always in Stitches, which is going on now through the end of October.

The original version of Peppermint Twist was included in my book, Idiot’s Guide: Quilting. This new version includes three sizes and uses fast strip-piecing methods.

I really love Peppermint Twist! It is simple and bold, with its two color format. I used a diagonally striped fabric in my blocks, although you don’t have to—you’ll still get a lovely spinning effect.

Peppermint Twist is also a sentimental favorite because when I was taking photos of it one Christmas, I caught my little Lucy in a snapshot. The light was bad and the photo’s a bit fuzzy but I still like it. I miss her.

I had my longarmer quilt my version with white thread and an all-over twirling design.

I’m celebrating the release of two new patterns with a sale!

From now until the end of October, it’s 25% off all patterns in the Quilt Patterns category in my shop! Patterns in the Table Runner and Mini Quilt categories are $1.00 off.

Enter OCT2018QP at checkout for 25% off quilt patterns. Enter OCT2018TR for $1.00 off table runner patterns. Enter OCT2018MQ for $1.00 off mini quilt patterns.

My New Pattern Berry Cross!

If you’ve been following my blog, then you know that I’m currently being featured as a local artist in the quilt shop where I work.

We’ve recently changed around the store, and now you can find my trunk show in the hallway that leads to our largest classroom.

For the trunk show, I wrote and tested a few new patterns. One of these is Berry Cross, which I’m releasing officially to my shop today!

Berry Cross comes in three sizes. It uses strip-piecing and flip corners for fast assembly, making it the perfect quilt for a confident beginner.

With some calculating, you could make Berry Cross in one of these two variations.

To quilt my version, I gave my longarmer free reign. She chose a lovely purple thread, and quilted tiny berries in the corners and centers of the blocks. In the white areas, she quilted a small meander.

I'm a Featured Artist!

We’re featuring local artists this month at Always in Stitches (the quilt shop where I work) and I was so excited when they told me they wanted to feature me too!

Trunk show 5.jpg

There are several local artists being featured, such as Linda (a hand-quilter) who is offering a class on how to hand-quilt.

Ron Bastin, a local beekeeper whose honey we carry at the store is coming mid-month to tell us about how he collects honey. He’ll be bringing some bees in an observation hive so you can see them up close. He’ll also show participants how to make a beeswax candle. What a cool presentation!

Emma O’Brien is a yarn spinner who will show her students how to dye yarn, so we’re carrying undyed (natural) yarn in the store. Emma is bringing a real sheep outside the store for you to see and pet!

All month long,we’re having a trunk show of Vawter Wool showing how yarn is made, from sheep to skein. Stop by the store to see sheared wool, carded wool, and blankets, coverlets, and garments made of wool.

Finally, at the end of the month we are having a Shannon trunk show. You won’t believe how soft their Cuddle fabric (minky) is, and the variety of textures and colors. Not sure how to use it? They’ll show you all the tips and techniques of using this wonderful fabric. Throughout the month, you can take any of several Shannon Workshops to learn how to make infinity scarves, blankets, strip quilts.

So stop by Always in Stitches this month if you can and say Hi and pet my quilts. On display (from right to left starting at the top) is Mirage, Peppermint Twist, Summer Social, Charming Stepping Stones, and Berry Cross. You can also purchase Mirage, Summer Social, and Charming Stepping Stones in my online shop, and soon Berry Cross and Peppermint Twist as well.
