Time to set my quilting goals for September. Although it doesn’t always reflect it in my results, having goals like these keep me focused on the things I need to get done!
Make progress on a quilt for my daughter. The Star Trek quilt I’m making for my daughter is almost done and this month I need to create a section for the back that has my daughter’s name in Vulcan script. I’ve found a paper-pieced alphabet online but I may look at some other versions and fashion an appliqued version instead.
On the left is a sample of something I found at one website—it has several different styles of letters. The second alphabet (on the right) is completely different. My plan is to show these to Katerina and ask her to select the style and/or letters she prefers. Then I’ll design a pattern for her name, maybe mixing styles and alphabets.
Make a juvenile quilt for the September Island Batik’s Child’s Play challenge. The challenge for Island Batik Ambassadors this month is make a juvenile quilt or other project that uses the special Block on Board die (BOB die) we were sent from AccuQuilt GO in our second Ambassador box.
I was sent the Spider Web die so this will be a toughie for me. Wish me luck!
Begin quilting the January Island Batik Getaway Blog Hop challenge Although this is no longer the same priority as some of my other quilt projects, I really want to get to quilting this soon.
Write a new pattern for Island Batik. Orders should be coming in soon for this one, so I need to push through and get this one done!
Write a pattern for My Little Star. This pattern is needed this month so I need to get it finished. If you want to see My Little Star in more detail, click here.
Make two quilts for the Spring Market Island Batik booth. Two of my designs were selected for sampling, and the fabrics should be arriving soon. The quilts need to be in California in November so in September I’d like to get the piecing done on at least one quilt, if not both of these quilts this month.
Both quilts are designs you’ve seen, but the fabrics are secret so I can’t share them. I’ll be making my Wedding Bands and Summer Social quilts in new colorways. This also means that I’ll be patterning Wedding Bands soon! Click the images to see my blog posts about each quilt.
Sew sleeves and labels on my quilt show quilts I’ve entered ten quilts in my local guild’s show, and I need to prepare them by adding sleeves and labels. This needs to be done by October 5th, so I’ve got some time. If you’ve never added a 4” hanging sleeve to a quilt, click here for a photo tutorial. Click here for a photo tutorial on printing labels.
Submit my new patterns to Checker for distribution. I’ve got several new patterns I need to add to their new catalog before Fall Market.
Make a shop sample for Always in Stitches The pattern is called Icebox and it’s by Vaness Goertzen @ Lella Boutique. The quilt will feature her Little Tree fabric collection by Moda. This is underway thank goodness. Hope to get this one done soon!
Make a Funky Friend. I’m making Ellie Elephant using a new Fall 2019 Island Batik collection so I can’t show you, but it’s a cutie! The elephant will be used to decorate the Island Batik Fall Market booth. It’s not due until the end of September and with everything else that was going on I didn’t get to it.
So here are my goals! When I’m making samples for Market I always get so busy. Wish me luck in finishing all these projects!
