July is one week old and it’s time to list my quilty goals for the month.
Make progress on a quilt for my daughter. You probably know by now that I’m making a Star Trek quilt for my daughter. Every month this year I’ve completed another step, and by the end of the year I’ll have a completed quilt.
This month I need to sew all my blocks together to create a quilt top. I’m not sure yet if I’m going to add borders beyond what you see below—I’ll figure that out after I get the top together.
Make a star quilt for the August Island Batik Star Light Star Bright challenge. The challenge is to create a quilt with star blocks. Got several ideas for this one but nothing underway just yet.
Only half of the Ambassadors are taking this challenge—the others are creating quilts that feature the Spring 2019 Island Batik collection which is coming into stores now. There are tons of giveaways and beautiful batiks and quilts so don’t miss it! Click here to view the blog hop schedule.
Begin quilting the January Island Batik Getaway Blog Hop challenge I was making this quilt when my sister passed away and never got it done. I’m at the point where I need to quilt it and I hope to get started on that this month.
Make the last Bee Inspired block. I belong to an online bee and I’ve got only one left and it’s for Kate @ Smiles From Kate. It’s a simple block so Kate asked for two of them.
Write a new pattern for Island Batik. I had three quilts in the Island Batik Spring Market booth, and needed to write the patterns for them. I’ve only got one pattern left to write for those quilts and I hope to get that done this month.
Write a pattern for My Little Star. I created this cute baby quilt for the Island Batik AccuQuilt GO! challenge and I’d like to create a pattern for it this month.

Host two blocks for the Sew Let’s QAL and present projects that use them. Block 12 will be released on Tuesday, August 13th and Block 13 (the final block) will be released on August 27th along with my projects for the blocks this segment.
Make a block for a Modern Quilt Guild challenge. My Bee Inspired online bee is participating in the challenge, and each of us is making a block. Each block needs to include the phrase, “You can do it” in English or any other language we choose. I’m using Italian, not because I speak it but because my sister went there on her last vacation and it seemed like a lovely place to visit. The color palette is various shades of grey plus black and white. Here’s my fabric pull. I’ll get some of the suggested solids the next time I’m at work and refine my pull to match.
Write three patterns for Riley Blake. I recently got asked to ghost write three free download patterns for new fabric collections for Riley Blake and I’m really excited about it!
Make a Funky Friend. I love making these things! This time I’m making an elephant using a new Fall 2019 batik collection so I can’t show you. The Funky Friend will be used to decorate the Island Batik Fall Market booth and it’s due at the end of September so if I get it done early that will be a bonus!
Here are two Funky Friends I’ve forgotten to share with you—Memory Bear (featuring French Blue) and Punju Peacock (featuring Paisley Park, both from the Fall/Winter 2018 Island Batik collection).
Well, I’ve got so many things to make this month. Whew! Wish me luck!
