My May Goals

Although the weather hasn’t warmed up that much, March is out of here and it’s time for me to recap how I did at meeting my March goals.

  • Make progress on a quilt for my daughter. The Star Trek quilt I’m making for my daughter is coming along! This month the goal is to make some of the larger blocks.

  • Make a Modern quilt for the May Island Batik challenge. The challenge for May is to make a modern quilt using batiks. I struggle with modern so this should be a challenge. Wish me luck!

  • Make progress on the January Island Batik Getaway Blog Hop challenge I didn’t get as far along as I would have liked in April so we’ll give this another try. This month I’d like to finish appliqueing all the birds and leaves down.

  • Write two new patterns for Island Batik. I’ve got three quilts in the Island Batik Spring Market booth, so I needed to finalize the three patterns and get them ready to sell. I’ve got one done, one underway, and one more to write. Better get moving!

  • Finish a quilt for Spring Market. Timeless Treasures selected one of my designs for a free download pattern for Quilt Market. My goal was to get the pattern written and submitted for publishing by mid-April. That’s been done and the pattern is ready to go.

Timeless Treasures also asked me to make a sample, and it’s been pieced and is ready for quilting.

  • Finish a quilt for Fall Market Island Batik selected one of my designs for the Fall Market Collections and I need to piece that quilt and get it quilted by early June. This month I’d like to be well under way with that project.

  • Host two blocks for the Sew Let’s QAL. The first of these two blocks debuts next Tuesday so be sure to come back for the free pattern. The hosts will also be showing you some cute projects you can make with your blocks if you’re not making a quilt.

The second block in May is released May 21st and it’s mine! So please come back for that one too!!!!!

  • Complete the sign up process for Checkers. Checkers is one of two major distributors here in the US, and they have just agreed to carry my patterns! This is a big deal because now my patterns will be more widely available to quilt stores. The process involves a lot of forms and printing of samples and so on and it’s underway but I need to complete the process this month. At Market I hope to sign with the other distributor as well, so wish me luck!

  • Finish a pattern for RJR. Sometimes I write patterns for other pattern designers, and this is the case with this one. The pattern features a new spring collection so I need to get it done as soon as possible.

As you can see, it’s an impossibly long list. Add to that me spending time with my daughter for graduation and moving and my trip to Quilt Market and it’s a busy month!
