I'm fresh from a quilt retreat where I got a lot of work done. I sewed up a couple of blocks for the I Wish You a Merry QAL, and worked on my current Island Batik project--a quilt as you go.
Here are Blocks 1 and 2 of the quilt along. There are awesome prizes for quilting along with us, and it's not too late! Jump here for info on how to join us and download the patterns.
Although I can't show you my Island Batik project just yet because it's not done, I can do a sneak preview.
Aren't those colors luscious? They're from the Pressed Petals collection by Island Batik, in stores now. I won't tell you what I'm making (Alice, Susie, and Mary, don't you either!) but it's turning out pretty awesome! I've got another retreat this weekend (yeah, I know, lucky me!) so I'll definitely get the challenge done and posted soon.
Now that you know what I've been doing, let's see what you're up to! First though, it's time for our weekly feature!
This week I thought I'd feature Kate @ Smiles From Kate. Kate's been featured before but it's been awhile and I thought it would be nice to remind you why I love her blog so much. Kate is not only a great quilter, but a wonderful embroiderer too so her blog has variety. Mostly though, I love reading her blog because it feels like she's talking right to me. You have only to read her recent post about her struggles with bee blocks and her dog Indi to know that she's got a great sense of humor and a generous heart.
Congratulations Kate! Grab an “I Was Featured” button for your blog if you don't have one already.
There were a lot of special posts last week, and you should drop by those blogs and see some wonderful quilt projects--suhc as Laura's Interleave quilt, Mel's baby clothing quilt and Simply Woven quilt, Anja's skirt along project and Karen's shop hop trip. Heck, even Susie's neatly organized sewing area for the retreat is nice to look at. Click here to revisit the links from last week's post. You won't be disappointed, I promise!
