Jen and Jan’s Mini Quilt Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to Jen (from A Dream and a Stitch) and Jan’s (from Color Creating and Quilting) Mini Quilt Blog Hop! I participated last year and it was tons of fun! This year, Jen has designed the cutest pattern, called Quilter's Laundry Day. The pattern is free and you can download it here.

The quilt pattern has a place where you can feature your favorite block. For my quilt, I chose my Berry Cross block. For the house, I used the same fabrics I used in my Berry Cross quilt.

For the grass, I used a shamrock print I had because I’m Irish, and hey, it’s March! <grin> I used cloud fabric for the sky, but my scrap wasn’t big enough for me to cut all the pieces directionally so in the world that my quilt inhabits, the clouds are really swirling around! That actually works nicely for me since my husband is from Oklahoma, Land of the Big Tornadoes. <grin>

I mostly quilted my quilt in the ditch, but I did get a bit fancy and quilt clouds in the sky, and blocks in the sidewalk. I also quilted window panes and I fancied up the door a bit by adding sections to it. I quilted the shamrock grass by quilting around the larger shamrocks and meandering between them.

Because it features my Berry Cross block and colors, I've decided to call my quilt "Berry Crossing." This was a super fun project and it’s easily something you can do in a day. Here are the quilt details:

There are giveaways at some of the blogs, so be sure to visit each one! Before you go though, I’m hosting a linky party each Wednesday called Wednesday Wait Loss. Link up a WIP and you may win a beautiful charm pack from Windham Fabrics! Click here to read my post and to link up.

Also, the Island Batik Ambassadors are hosting Furry Fridays for the next six weeks. Please come back later today to learn more about how as a quilter, you can support pet shelters and rescue cats and dogs.
