Wednesday Wait Loss 38

Hi and welcome to Wednesday Wait Loss. I didn't get much done last week as I spent a lot of time volunteering for my guild's bi-annual quilt show. We had about 400 member quilts in the show, five of which were mine. I displayed Brickyard, Eleanora's Iris, I Love Lucy, Sliced Orange Peel, and another one I'll talk about in a moment.

The show also included a special exhibit of 179 art quilts reflecting the theme, "Fly Me to the Moon." The exhibit was over the moon! Astronaut David Wolf came and gave a talk. He showed "home movies" of his life in space. Afterwards, he signed my copy of the Fly Me to the Moon exhibit book. The whole experience was so awesome!

There were other special exhibits as well, such as the guild color challenge and the past president's challenge. As a past president, I jumped at the past president's challenge, making a quilt that was based on the Works Projects Administration pattern, Tulip Baskets. I call my quilt Basket of Blooms. You can see the WPA pattern (more of an inspiration, really) in this photo.

Now that you know what I've been doing, let's see what you're up to! First, it's time for our weekly feature.

Wednesday Wait Loss

This week, I want to welcome several newbies to our little group. First up is April @ Janda Bend Quilts. April shared a Christmasy Dresden Plate quilt, and showed us how to modify it to hang from a mini quilt stand. Isn't it perfect? Visit April to learn how you can hang a special quilt like this as well.

Next is Bee @ Buzzing Around. Bee wins the prize for the most works in progress. Let's give her a WWL cheer of encouragement so she will share a finish with us soon. Here are just a few of her WIPs. She's so close to finishing them! Pay her a visit and treat yourself to a great array of quilts in the works!

Next up is Chris @ Chris Knits Sews. Chris is participating in Bag It 2007, and she shared this awesome cosmetic bag. The inside is just as wonderful, and if you pay her a visit you can see it for yourself. I'm feeling the urge to make one for me.

Finally, I want to feature Sherry @ Powered by Quilting. Sherry shared her new pattern, Flying Windmills! Isn't it terrific? Visit Sherry's blog to learn more about her new quilt and to purchase the pattern.

Congratulations April, Bee, Chris, and Sherry! Here's an "I Was Featured" button for your blogs. Welcome to Wednesday Wait Loss! We look forward to your next share.
