My Faves Monday - Black and White Fabrics

I love using black and whites in my quilts because of their graphic, modern look. In fact, I love them so much I used them in my Guild President's banner.

Black and white fabrics can be sorted into lights, mediums, and darks, just like your other quilting fabrics. For high-contrast in a quilt block, I pair almost white graphics with almost black ones.

Black and white fabrics compliment nicely with bold colors, which is why I used them in my quilt “Funky Flowers.” Don’t those little pops of color add zing?

I love how the bright colors enliven these blocks.

Black and white fabrics can add unexpected wonderfulness when used as the sashing between blocks or as a border.

Black and whites also make a terrific binding. Try it sometime!

This quilt was designed by my good friend Michelle Hoel, using blocks created from Freddy Moran and Gwen Marston’s book, “Collaborative Quilting.

I really love black and white fabrics which is why I have such a large collection. I wonder what they will inspire next?

What about you? Have you made a quilt using black and white fabrics? Please tell me about it and share your photos here!
